“When I opened the door to my cabin, my fear faded as my counselor greeted me with a big smile and a warm welcome. I quickly made new friends with the other girls that first day as we put our clothes away and then lined up on the field before dinner. Later on, when our cabin got together for Bible study, I got to know my cabin mates like I never thought possible. I can’t wait to see how much fun we can all have tomorrow!”
Cabin life is the center of the Deer Run experience. It is the home base for most evening activities and group games. Each morning and evening the girls all line up together with their cabin before entering the dining hall to enjoy a meal together. Each cabin participates in an overnight hike in the White Mountains. With all these shared experiences, deep friendships grow under the direction of the two cabin counselors.
Each cabin group is made up of girls of similar age and school grade. There are two counselors that live in the cabin with up to 13 campers. Our counselors are carefully chosen for their Christian character and ability to mentor campers.
